Say there was an assignment where we had to write about an opinion or a moral standpoint in this class, I feel that AI will lack the ability to complete this assignment on its own. Lets go with the topic of NeuraLink. The assignment would be prompted as “Write about your opinions on whether NeuraLink is morally right or wrong”. It could be even a sentence of writing and AI still could not do it. Simply put by invoca.com, AI cannot “Make Moral Judgments”.
To really prove a point I decided to put it to the test. I asked ChatGPT the same prompt stated above. It then followed to give me the following “The moral implications of Neuralink, or any technology that merges human biology with advanced electronics, are complex and can be viewed from various perspectives. Here are some considerations on both sides:” and it then went on to give me both sides of the argument. So I then asked it “Can you tell me which side you take?”. It then gave me the following response: “I don’t have personal opinions or take sides on moral issues. However, I can discuss various perspectives and arguments on the topic, helping to explore different viewpoints and considerations. What are your thoughts on the moral aspects of Neuralink?”.
After a long and hard thought of whether or not it could complete this mock assignment, I concluded that no… it would fail very hard with this assignment. See you again next year ChatGPT!
