Within class we talked about a new AI generating that involves videos. The name of this program is Sora. Sora is able to generate videos through text prompts up to a minute long. We saw videos that Sora is able to generate now and it is quite impressive. I find it especially interesting that it is able to generate a video that looks real and not just some animated video. The big question that I would like to ask though is, how is this going to be incorporated into real life. Off the bat I want to lean towards entertainment purposes. So this includes movies, movies, and even apps like TikTok. Some benefits that Sora can apply are extending any videos that could be unfinished, as well as reducing costs for filming. If a content creator wants to be able to add a visual of the Himalayan Mountains per say, but they can’t exactly get up and take a trip they can simply use this AI tool to make such clips. Or if there is something a director wants added to a film and they don’t want to go back and refilm the whole scene, potentially Sora can do this. However, Sora is new. As said before it currently caps out at one minute of content really limited it so far. As well the current abilities can come with a few flaws. It messes up like any AI can. Finally, this could be an opinion of my imagination but I just feel AI in general can lack a bit of creativity. For example I asked ChatGPT to “Tell me a joke about Pineapples and Construction workers?” and it gave me “ Why did the pineapple become a construction worker? Because it wanted to build pineapple towers!”. I’m not too sure about you but I find it hard to find the comedy in that. Overall this is a new tool that will be incorporated in new ways the more we use it and I am very interested to see the heights we can take it.
